CONNECTIONS
Textiles tell stories. Whether intentionally woven pictograms before reading and writing were commonplace, or printed patterns on yard goods, a viewer makes connections based on the design. Frequently, I draw textile patterns as a ground or connection of elements within my art. Other times, the textile itself is the hero. Selvages intrigue me. Without them a textile becomes unstable.
It is easy to see textiles as a metaphor for patterns of living.
