SEASONS: Emotional
Despair, pen and ink, 18” x 18” framed
The exterior pattern of each emotion mandala is the same, although a different color, leading us to consider that it is how we interpret the world around us.
The imagery in Despair offers an iconic mandala layout with four “houses”. One is filled with tears, one with a symbol of unity and the two (east/west) show the inner part of the large bowl. The small central bowl is filled with tentacles that seek to invade everything. Each moment of life is never only negative, although it is hard to acknowledge this when filled with despair.
