Labels enrich a viewer’s experience; a label can alter a viewer’s perception. The current government’s request to remove art or significantly alter the label does not provide the entire story. The white muslin “towel” flags are a creation of Sony Clark who sheds light on the Confederate Truce flag.

Amy Sherald removed her Transforming Lady Liberty, when the Smithsonian agreed to relabel or remove art per government mandate.
