Talk not Tweet, mixed media collage, 12” x 9” framed
Children who have grown up with computers and smart phones seem to prefer to communicate through these modalities, even if they are in the same room, or if they are sitting next to each other. Add to this the lengthening list of acronyms in place of typing out complete words, providing a written, not a spoken language; all with the lack of eye contact or body language, which provides context to communication; it is not surprising that people are becoming more “I-centric.”
Consider the carefully researched book, Stolen Focus, Johann Hari.
